EU Commission clears amended financing plan for Belgian broadcaster RTBF

The probe follows a state-aid complaint filed by the country's francophone press association over possible overcompensation for media services. Under the amended plans, RTBF will need to consult publicly on any significant new service and submit the proposal to an independent evaluation. A new contract between RTBF and the French-speaking authorities will now provide an exhaustive list of new media services included in its public service remit.
