Draft revision to privacy law proposed by South Korean privacy regulator

( January 6, 2021, 03:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A set of draft rules designed to increase the level of fines for privacy violations, ease some strict requirements for data transfer to foreign countries, and scrap criminal liabilities for most privacy violations was proposed by the Personal Information Protection Commission. Under the draft revision, the PIPC seeks to increase the level of fines for privacy violations up to 3 percent of annual turnover while scrapping most criminal liabilities against privacy officers for privacy violations.
