Fertilizers companies convicted of cartelizing market in the 1990´s

( July 17, 2015, 13:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Federal prosecutors announced that an appeals court in São Paulo state has convicted two companies for cartelizing the fertilizer market during the 1990's. Ultrafértil and Fosfértil will have to pay a damages sum that is yet to be calculated. The case started after a complaint by rival Votufértil Fertilizantes. The conduct is believed to have started after the companies were privatized, in 1992 (Fósfertil) and 1993 (Ultrafértil). The decision can still be appealed. The Brazilian antitrust authority was also part of the initial investigations, but left the case as the companies reached a settlement.Read the statement below (in Portuguese): ...
