French, Dutch Covid aid to Air France-KLM gets EU approval after fresh review

( July 10, 2024, 09:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: France and the Netherlands have again won European Commission approval for their support measures in favor of Air France-KLM, worth 10.4 billion euros. The measures were approved in 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, but were annulled by the EU General Court on the grounds that the commission was wrong in considering Air France and KLM to be the sole beneficiaries of such measures. The EU executive has now reassessed the support with the Air France-KLM Group as the beneficiary of both the French and Dutch measures, and concluded that the aid is also in line with the Covid temporary framework, or directly with the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.Statement follows. ...
