Beijing regulator to start review of high-precision, advanced assistance driving e-maps for China pilot project

( April 4, 2023, 07:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Chinese regulator for planning and natural resources in Beijing will start reviewing high-precision maps — maps for autonomous driving L4 and above — and advanced assistant driving e-maps for L3 and below in line with the country’s law governing surveying and mapping and the data security law. The maps cover the testing areas in the Beijing High-level Automated Driving Demonstration Area. Qualitied surveying and mapping entities that compile navigation electronic maps should encrypt the processing of map data by adopting the technology recognized by the government before applying for the map review, the regulator said. Submitted materials for the map review should include information such as data source, means of storage, principles applied in processing of information concerning security matter and security emergency response measures.
