Turkish fertilizer antitrust probe ends without fines
( January 4, 2021, 13:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Six Turkish companies active in the fertilizer sector haven't broken antitrust rules, the national competition authority has concluded. In a decision adopted in November but only made public today, the agency therefore decided to not fine the businesses, following an own-initiative investigation into the matter. The six companies are Bandırma Gübre Fabrikaları, EGE Sanayi, Gemlik Gübre Sanayi, Gübre Fabrikaları, İstanbul Gübre Sanayi and Toros Tarım Sanayi ve Ticaret.
Statement follows.The investigation about 6 undertakings operating in the fertilizer sector was concluded. (30.11.2020) (4.1.2021) The investigation, initiated ex officio to determine whether the undertakings operating in the fertilizer sector violated Article 4 of the Law No. 4054, has been completed. As a result of the discussion of the file by the Competition Board in 26.11.2020; it has been decided that Bandırma Gübre Fabrikaları A.Ş., EGE Sanayi A.Ş., Gemlik Gübre Sanayi A.Ş., Gübre Fabrikaları T.A.Ş., İstanbul Gübre Sanayi A.Ş. and Toros Tarım Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. did not violate article 4 of the Act no 4054, therefore, there is no need to impose administrative fines on the aforementioned undertakings pursuant to Article 16 of the same Act....
