Tech advocates say US Supreme Court should pick up Facebook wiretap case

( December 28, 2020, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Internet Association, the US Chamber of Commerce and others told the US Supreme Court that Facebook shouldn't be held liable for information it received when users who logged off its site hit the “like” button on other web pages. The organization filed a brief in support of Facebook’s request for high court review regarding a decision to revive wiretap claims against it. “If communications with these features can amount to an illegal wiretap, then a vast quantity of everyday online communications could violate a criminal statute. The Ninth Circuit’s decision thus imperils a whole universe of conduct, and its impact is not limited to the context of collecting user data for tailoring advertisements and recommendations,” they said.See document below. ...
