South Korea plans to build two more nuclear reactors by 2029

( July 22, 2015, 04:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it plans to build two more nuclear reactors as part of its latest 15-year energy-supply plan, bringing the total number of reactors in the country to 36. The decision to build the reactors is to meet the expected 2.2 percent annual increase in energy demand over the next 15 years. The ministry also said it has withdrawn plans to construct four new coal-fired power plants that was proposed in the previous energy plan, in order to cut the proportion of the country’s overall power supply from fossil fuels to 32.3 percent from 34.7 percent by 2029.The government's statement, in Korean, is attached....
