Brico Privé fined EUR500,000 in France for breaching data protection rules

( June 17, 2021, 08:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Brico Privé, a French home-and-garden improvement company, has been fined 500,000 euros for breaching the EU's privacy rules by sending marketing e-mails to current and prospective customers without consent, the national data watchdog has said. The company had failed to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation, the national data protection act and the Postal and Electronic Communications Code, the CNIL said. Brico Privé now has three months to bring its policies in line with EU and national rules. The CNIL is cooperating with the supervisory authorities in Spain, Italy and Portugal, where Brico Privé also operates. Statement follows in French....
