Brexit data-flows arrangement is 'best possible outcome' for businesses, ICO says

( December 28, 2020, 10:43 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UK businesses will benefit from "the best possible outcome" on post-Brexit data flows as the EU-UK trade deal has given them a six-month standstill transition period to any new arrangement, UK Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham said today. Under the terms of the agreement, the EU will allow personal data to flow to the UK for up to six months without any changes, as the bloc continues with its adequacy assessment of the UK's data protection regime. But Denham still urged companies to prepare alternative data-transfer mechanisms, such as standard contractual clauses, as a "sensible precaution" for the future.Statement follows....
