Vietnam publishes draft law on digital technology industry, including AI, for comment

( July 3, 2024, 09:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications has published a draft law that will both facilitate the development of and regulate the country’s digital technology industry, including artificial intelligence, Big Data, cloud computing, Internet of Things, blockchain, and virtual reality or augmented reality, among others. It outlines prohibited AI activities, such as those that manipulate behavior, discriminate against certain groups of people, or classify individuals based on certain characteristics, and requires AI outputs to be clearly labelled. It also defines digital assets, and outlines a sandbox mechanism for digital technology products and services.
