Kuraray’s glass deal with DuPont cleared by EU, subject to conditions

( April 29, 2014, 09:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission has cleared a plan by chemical maker Kuraray to purchase the glass-lamination and vinyl business of rival DuPont, subject to conditions. To win the EU approval, Kuraray has agreed to divest a polyvinyl butyral, or PVB, film production facility in Uentrop, Germany. The merged entity would have otherwise faced “insufficient competitive constraint” in Europe from the only remaining competitor, Eastman Chemical. PVB films are sheets used primarily in laminated safety glass.The full press release follows....
