French government sets book delivery price to level competition between Amazon, independent booksellers

( September 23, 2022, 14:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The French government has accepted a proposal to raise the floor for book orders of up to 35 euros to 3 euros from 0.01 euro cents. The government was obliged to fix the price following a 2021 law that aims to level competition between major online commerce platforms — such as Amazon — which ship books almost for free regardless of the order amount, and independent booksellers that can't match these rates for small orders. The European Commission must give an opinion on the proposal, which will go into effect six months after it's published.Statement is below:...
