CADE relies on international cooperation to notify two foreign defendants in electric equipment cartel probe

( March 1, 2018, 18:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Brazilian competition authority said it will count on international cooperation to notify individuals Victor B. Tolentino and Wilfried Breuer in the US and the Netherlands, respectively, that they are included in a cartel investigation regarding products intended for transmission and distribution of electricity, according to a statement. Additionally, the agency removed Maurício Casamayou from the probe because of his death, and temporarily suspended the probe of Didier Michel Marie Farez and Heikki Holm because they joined a settlement agreement signed by Alstom Brasil Energia e Transporte, one of the companies under investigation in the probe. The Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE, will be able to effectively close the probe of the Alstom individuals after the case is decided by the agency's Tribunal and compliance with the accord terms is verified.OJ statement follows in Portuguese.
