Google agrees to UK CMA oversight role over 'Privacy Sandbox' changes to Chrome browser

( June 11, 2021, 06:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google has agreed to let the UK competition regulator have an oversight role in the design and development of the company's Privacy Sandbox to address concerns about proposals to remove third-party cookies on Chrome. The Competition and Markets Authority said the move is ensure the proposals don't distort competition. The CMA has opened a consultation until July 8 on whether to accept Google’s commitments, which if accepted, would be legally binding. The CMA started enforcement action against Google in January this year, when businesses raised concerns about the company’s plans.The statement follows; the notice is attached....
