EU Commission gets negotiating mandate to update Energy Charter Treaty

( July 15, 2019, 14:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission has obtained a mandate from national governments to negotiate on their behalf on the overhaul of the Energy Charter Treaty, the EU Council said in a statement. The main focus of the EU executive arm's mandate is on aspects related to the clean-energy transition and climate change when it comes to investment protection and investor-to-state dispute settlement.
