That fact became evident in light of revelations in the software patent trial between Apple and Samsung this week, in which Apple presented testimony from a Google lawyer disclosing that Google and Samsung had entered into an agreement in which Google would control Samsung's defense against search- and Gmail-related patent claims, and indemnify the Korean smartphone-maker against some damages relating to those two Apple patents.Google's decision, behind the scenes, to indemnify Samsung and take over part of that company's defense in its patent case against Apple shows how the case cuts to the core of the search giant's business....
