Belgian privacy watchdog closes Meta data ‘scraping’ probe after Irish fining decision

( March 28, 2023, 08:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Belgian data protection authority has closed an investigation into Meta Platforms, after the Irish Data Protection Commission issued a fine of 265 million euros (around $287 million) against the company over a global data leak at its Facebook unit that affected more than 105 million users in the EU. The fine was issued for breaches of the GDPR’s “data protection by design” requirements. The Belgian watchdog said "it is not among the priorities" of its litigation chamber to rule on a complaint "a second time."The decision is attached....
