Carrefour, Tesco's commitments to settle French buying-alliance probe approved by regulator

( December 17, 2020, 15:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Carrefour and Tesco's commitments to allay the concerns of the French antitrust authority in its probe into their buying alliance — which were submitted in October and have now been market tested — were accepted and rendered obligatory for five years, the regulator said today. Carrefour and Tesco must reduce the scope of their purchasing cooperation for their own-brand products, which should exclude fruit and vegetables. For products including cheese, canned tomatoes and cotton, the agreement should be limited to 15 percent of the purchase market share per family of products. SMEs should be also able to bid for tenders initiated by each company for their supply of own-brand products.Statement follows in French....
