India sets 15-day deadline for digital news, video streaming platforms to provide details

( May 26, 2021, 10:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- The Indian government asked digital news sites and video streaming platforms in a May 26 notification to provide essential information required for the country's new IT rules within 15 days. Digital media must provide website names, mobile apps, social media accounts, TV channels permitted by the government, newspaper registration numbers, and details of a contact person, the news editor and the grievance officer in India. Video streaming platforms are to provide similar information and include the country of registration if they are foreign entities.Statement issued by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting is attached....
