Swisscom faces in-depth national probe over dominance abuse in fiber-optic network expansion

( December 17, 2020, 08:44 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Swisscom is now under a full investigation by Comco, the national antitrust authority, over whether it is excluding rivals from participating in further expanding the fiber-optic network, the watchdog said today. In areas where Swisscom is the sole company working on network development, it is modifying the architecture of the network in a way that competitors no longer get direct access to infrastructure, limiting the innovation and business opportunities of its rivals, Comco said. Swisscom is now prohibited from denying rivals access to continuous conducts when expanding the fiber-optic network, the authority said.
