Adevinta's purchase of eBay's classifieds arm probed by UK CMA

( December 17, 2020, 07:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Adevinta's planned $9 billion acquisition of eBay Classifieds, the global classifieds arm of eBay, is being probed by the UK Competition and Markets Authority which started its investigation today. The deal also sees eBay acquire a minority stake in Adevinta, an online classified advertising company. Adevinta is active in the UK through its platforms Shpock, Agriaffaires, MachineryZone and Truckscorner. eBay's classifieds arm is active in the UK through platforms Gumtree and Motors.co.uk, and eBay is also the owner of eBay's marketplace. The CMA will decide whether the deal gives rise to competition concerns by Feb. 16.Statement follows....
