Hong Kong MSG manufacturer rapped in first RPM case before Competition Tribunal

( September 15, 2022, 07:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Hong Kong's antitrust watchdog today commenced proceedings in the Competition Tribunal against The Tien Chu (HK) Company for engaging in resale price maintenance in the supply of monosodium glutamate powder to its two main local distributors. Being the first RPM case to have been brought for enforcement, the Competition Commission tried to resolve the matter by issuing an infringement notice, according to the watchdog's statement. However, Tien Chu did not agree to offer any commitments, resulting in the current proceeding against it, it said. The antitrust authority is asking the tribunal to impose remedies, including a pecuniary penalty to be imposed and a declaration that Tien Chu contravened the First Conduct Rule.Hong Kong Competition Commission's statement follows-:...
