Trump announces departure of US Attorney General William Barr on Twitter

( December 14, 2020, 23:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US President Donald Trump announced this afternoon that Attorney General William Barr's last day at the Department of Justice will be Dec. 23. In a pair of tweets that included Barr's resignation letter, Trump also said that Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen will become acting attorney general. Richard Donoghue, a Rosen deputy, will assume duties of deputy attorney general. In his resignation letter, Barr praised Trump, wrtiting that "Your record is all the more historic because you accomplished it in the face of relentless, implacable resistance." He added that "The nadir of this campaign was the effort to cripple, if not oust, your administration with frenzied and baseless accusations of collusion with Russia." Tweets follow in full.
