Rumo allowed to participate in VLI Multimodal-Progress Rail deal review post-approval

( February 21, 2018, 21:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Brazilian competition authority President Alexandre Barreto has authorized rail transportation company Rumo to participate  in the Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE, investigatory unit's review of rival VLI Multimodal's buyout of Progress Rail Locação de Locomotivas, already approved without restrictions, because the approval came before the deadline for third parties to request their participation in the case review. Barreto said Rumo's request was legitimate because it was made by the deadline and because the company competes with VLI in the rail market. Rumo has until Feb. 23 to appeal the Superintendence's approval the deal. If it does, the case will be assigned to a Tribunal member who will analyze Rumo's request.See document below (in Portuguese)....
