Maine attorney general asks US judge not to invalidate ISP privacy law

( May 27, 2020, 20:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Maine's attorney general says broadband associations' arguments against the state's Internet service provider privacy law are so riddled with deficiencies, US Judge Lance E. Walker shouldn't grant judgment on pleadings. Maine seeks to regulate commercial speech and broadband providers warrant special regulation because "customers must engage with an ISP every time they use the Internet," wrote Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey. He also rejected arguments that the state law runs afoul of federal preemption. Broadband industry associations sued in US federal court in February in a bid to invalidate the state law, and filed for judgment on the pleadings in April.See attached document....
