Africo seeks restitution in Och-Ziff FCPA case despite DOJ objection

( February 20, 2018, 16:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Africo Resources, a Canadian firm that owned a copper and cobalt mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has asked US District Judge Nicholas Garaufis to recognize it as a victim in the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act prosecution of Och-Ziff Capital Management and its subsidiary, OZ Africa Management. Africo said that because of bribery by Och-Ziff, Africo shareholders feared government action that would terminate its interest in the mine, forcing shareholders to accept an unfavorable deal from an alleged Och-Ziff co-conspirator. Africos' shareholders are contesting the Department of Justice's "preliminary" decision not to recognize Africo as a victim eligible for restitution under the US Mandatory Crime Victim's Act.See documents below....
