Aetna, Humana ask for sanctions against government for allegedly restricting document access

( October 4, 2016, 15:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Aetna and Humana have asked a federal court official to impose sanctions because of the US Department of Justice's alleged efforts to restrict the health insurers' access to documents the health insurers said they need to defend themselves against the government's case to break up their proposed merger, according to a court filing Tuesday. Among the sanctions would be the finding that Medicare and Medicare Advantage policies are part of the same product market. The Justice Department has insisted Medicare and Medicare Advantage policies are in separate markets and that the merger would shrink Medicare Advantage options for older Americans.See attached document....
