Maersk, Hamburg Süd deal cleared with conditions in China

( November 8, 2017, 12:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Danish container shipper Maersk Line's acquisition of German rival Hamburg Süd has received conditional approval from China’s Ministry of Commerce, which said the deal might harm container shipping competition on some Far East to South America routes. Conditions imposed by the antitrust regulator include that Hamburg Süd must leave the Asia 2 vessel-sharing agreements and not be part of the ASPA 1, 2 & 3 agreements once they expire, and Maersk must reduce its refrigerated container shipping market share on the Far East to South America West Coast route.The statement follows (in Chinese)....
