End-to-end encryption in draft law to scan for CSAM still disputed by EU governments (update*)

The Belgian compromise proposal, seen by MLex, purports to add safeguards to avoid undermining encryption — but critics say it will still do that. The emphasis on data protection was added as an amendment by France, which may change its position and no longer be part of the blocking minority in a vote at ambassador level on Thursday.
