German Competition Authority: BKartA raises legal concerns regarding Liberty's acquisition of Kabel Baden-Württemberg

( October 28, 2011, 10:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The German competition authority has expressed antitrust concerns over cable giant Liberty Global's plans to buy Kabel Baden-Württemberg. The Bundeskartellamt fears the purchase would strengthen a market-dominant oligopoly by reducing the number of major suppliers from three to two. The regulator is currently conducting a market test to verify whether the commitments the companies have submitted will remedy the competition concerns raised.
