Morrisons-McColl's merger raises competition concerns in 35 local areas, UK CMA says

( September 8, 2022, 08:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Wm Morrison Supermarkets' completed purchase of certain assets of McColl’s Retail Group raises competition concerns in 35 local areas where the two brands compete, the UK Competition and Markets Authority said in phase I findings today. But the CMA said that during the course of its probe, the retailers accepted the concerns and asked it to move straight to a discussion of remedies to address them. Morrisons now has five working days to offer formal proposals to the CMA, which would then have a further five in which to decide whether to accept them in principle, or to refer the case to a phase II investigation.Statement follows.
