New South African president pledges to 'turn the tide' on public corruption

( February 16, 2018, 22:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: New South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said in his opening State of the Nation address that this year South Africa will "turn the tide of corruption in our public institutions." He said that criminal justice institutions already are taking initiatives to deal more effectively with corruption, and he pointed to efforts to root out graft at state-owned power company Eskom. Ramaphosa also supported the work of the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.See statement below....
