California regulators to scrutinize need for fingerprint background checks for Uber drivers

( June 22, 2016, 22:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: LIane Randolph, a member of the California Public Utilities Commission, said in a ruling Wednesday that the CPUC will continue to study whether it should require fingerprint-based background checks for drivers of "Transportation Network Companies" such as Uber Technologies and Lyft. "I believe that it is prudent that the Commission continue to explore whether each TNC’s current method of conducting criminal background checks before hiring a TNC driver is as effective as fingerprint-based criminal background checks that are conducted by other business operations," Randolph said in a ruling. Please see attached ruling....
