Japan to strengthen cyberattack responses by closer inter-agency coordination

( March 17, 2023, 10:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan will strengthen cyberattack responses by tightening collaboration among government agencies dealing with cybersecurity, the nation’s Personal Information protection Commission said. To counter increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks which could affect infrastructure and national security, in accordance with government policies, the PPC has announced a collaboration policy to deepen cooperation with relevant organizations, and has exchanged memorandums with three cyber agencies, which also receive notifications of cyber incidents. The National Center of Incident readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity, the cyber bureau of the National Police Agency, and a quasi-government agency called the Information-technology Promotion Agency exchanged respective memorandums with the PPC. When a serious data incident takes place, these agencies plan to conduct a joint interview when possible, and share investigation results to expediate and integrate coordinated regulatory responses.
