US FCC approves order requiring subsidized telecoms to remove equipment that poses national security risk

( December 10, 2020, 21:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Federal Communications Commission has unanimously approved an order requiring recipients of Universal Service Fund subsidies for extending connectivity to underserved areas to remove equipment that poses a risk to national security. The removal is contingent on Congress appropriating at least $1.6 billion to cover the costs of removal. Only providers of communication services with 2 million or fewer customers are eligible for the reimbursement.See documents below....
