China's taxi association, previously vocal critic of Didi-Uber merger, banned by regulator for lack of registration

( May 28, 2021, 07:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The China Taxi Industry Alliance has been banned by the Shanghai municipal bureau of civil affairs for acting as a social organization without proper registration and approval from the regulator, according to a statement published on the official WeChat account of the regulator. The alliance urged the Chinese government to investigate ride-hailing giant Didi Chuxing’s alleged abuse of dominance in December last year. It also made a petition on Dec. 17, 2020 to the State Administration for Market Regulation, urging the administration to continue its probe into the merger of Didi Chuxing with rival Uber China.The statement is attached....
