US company Argon Medical Devices receives NOK2.5 million GDPR fine in Norway

( March 16, 2023, 16:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US company Argon Medical Devices has been fined 2.5 million kroner (around $230,000) by the Norwegian data protection authority, for violating the EU's General Data Protection Regulation. In July 2021, Argon discovered a security breach concerning personal data that could be used for fraud and identity theft that affected of all its European employees, including those in Norway, the watchdog said. However, Argon only notified the DPA in September that year, therefore it missed the 72-hour deadline for reporting such incidents under Article 33 of the GDPR, the regulator said.Statement follows in Norwegian.
