Telefónica pays EUR45,000 fine in Spain for GDPR breach

( May 25, 2021, 15:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Telefónica has paid a 45,000-euro fine to Spain's privacy regulator, AEPD, for breaching the EU's General Data Protection Regulation. The telecom operator had processed personal data without a legitimate basis, violating the GDPR's Article 6, the AEPD said in its enforcement decision. The complainant's data had been used to contract a service in 2019, which was cancelled due to non-payment. The data were also included in information files for unrecognized debt, but there was no relationship between the individual and the contracted service, the AEPD said. The regulator applied a reduction to Telefónica's fine, as the company decided to make a voluntary payment and to acknowledge responsibility.The decision is attached (in Spanish)....
