China's Shanghai issues draft measures for public consultation to boost AI industry development

( September 2, 2022, 08:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The legislature in Shanghai has released a set of draft ordinances that advance the development of artificial intelligence industry in the city. Shanghai aims to focus on developing AI chips, AI frameworks and software tools, AI robots, smart-connected vehicles, drones and unmanned ships. The Pudong New Area has been proposed as the pilot project area for commercial operation of smart-connected vehicles, AI innovation of medical devices and adjunctive medications, and testing and operation of drones and unmanned ships. The government will explore a regulatory sandbox, establish an AI ethics committee, and strengthen ethics regulations targeting AI developers, according to the draft measures which are open for public comment until Sept.13. The statement in Chinese follows: ...
