Second report on FDI screening in EU published

( September 1, 2022, 10:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A second report on the vetting of foreign direct investment in the EU was issued today by the European Commission. The report shows that 71 percent of the requests for FDI authorization filed in 2021 at the national level didn’t require formal screening, under the EU screening mechanism that took effect in October 2020. Out of the cases that did get formally screened, almost three-quarters were authorized without conditions, meaning the transaction was approved with no additional action required by the investor. National authorities ultimately blocked transactions in only 1 percent of all decided cases, while for a further 3 percent, the transaction was withdrawn by the investors.Report is attached. ...
