Accenture presses case for leave to take Marriott data breach claims to state court

( December 9, 2020, 00:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Accenture is again pressing its case in US District Court for leave to put the matter of its involvement in the Marriott International 2018 data breach lawsuit before state courts in Maryland and Connecticut. Accenture faces state law negligence and negligence per se claims for its role as a security vendor to the hotel chain. "The questions presented by Accenture’s motion check all of the boxes for certification," company lawyers said in a reply in support of their motion for reconsideration of Judge Paul Grimm's Oct. 27 order keeping Accenture on as a defendant. "No reported decision in either state addresses what tort duties, if any, a third-party service provider owes to its client’s customers," they wrote.See attached document....
