French privacy watchdog seeks feedback on future EU data protection rules

( June 16, 2016, 10:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: France’s data protection watchdog, CNIL, is inviting professionals to provide feedback on the European data protection framework, recently published in the EU’s official bulletin. The watchdog’s consultation centers around four main topics: the role of the data protection officer, the right to portability, impact studies on private life, and certification. CNIL said the input will help it to set up an efficient and operational framework. The new rules will be applicable in all EU member states as from May 25, 2018.Full statement follows.
