Website owner fined EUR1,000 in Spain over cookies violation

( May 24, 2021, 14:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The owner of a Catalan website has been fined 1,000 euros by Spain's data protection authority, for breaching national rules on tracking cookies. In a decision published today, the AEPD said the website — www.joiestelada.cat — doesn't offer visitors the option to decline the use of non-essential cookies. Following checks, the regulator said web surfers were served cookies belonging to the website and third-party cookies by Google, simply by visiting the website's main page. The website owner thus violated Section 22.2 of Spain's Law on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce, or LSSI, the AEPD said.The document in Spanish is attached....
