SK Chemicals and distributors fined, execs face prosecution over humidifier chemical deaths

By Danbee Lee ( February 13, 2018, 08:53 GMT | Insight) -- A South Korean maker of humidifier disinfectants and two distributors have been fined 134 million won ($124,000) by the country's competition regulator as part of a suite of punishments meted out after toxic chemicals caused hundreds of deaths. SK Chemicals will see two of its former top executives referred to prosecutors by the Korea Fair Trade Commission over their involvement in the scandal, as will distributor Aekyung Industry.
