BMW, Mercedes, ThyssenKrupp, VW can negotiate jointly to acquire technology licenses, German watchdog says

( June 10, 2024, 10:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: BMW, Mercedes-Benz, ThyssenKrupp and VW have received backing from the German antitrust authority to go ahead with their planned cooperation, the Automotive Licensing Negotiation Group, the office said today. The project will allow them to jointly negotiate the conditions for the acquisition of licenses for standard essential patents. The authority expressed minor concerns about the project as it currently stands, but emphasized that it would only accept if its activities are limited to standards that aren't specific to the automotive sector and comply with competition law guidelines, head Andreas Mundt said.Statement follows....
