Hilton hotel purchase in French Polynesia wins regulatory approval

( May 24, 2021, 01:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The joint takeover of Hôtel Tahiti by the Hilton Group alongside the Hôtel Tahiti company, which is owned by French Polynesian entrepreneur Louis Wane, has been granted regulatory approval by the French territory's competition regulator. In a recently published decision, the Autorité Polynésienne de la Concurrence said the reopening of the hotel, which has been shut since 2010, comes at a crucial moment for the territory's tourism industry, which has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic. The regulator said the transaction "does not appear to be such as to adversely affect competition in the markets concerned."
