Natura-Avon deal in Argentina contested by competition authority

( August 30, 2022, 12:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Argentine competition authority opposes beauty company Natura's planned acquisition of rival Avon, according to a statement. The National Commission for the Defense of Competition, or CNDC, said the transaction results in overlaps in the markets for beauty and personal care products, where the companies would have combined shares of 40 percent, as well as in the fragrance market, where their combined shares would increase to 53.7 percent after the deal. CNDC also said the parties have proposed remedies to mitigate the deal's potential effects on the market, and that it plans a hearing to analyze those possible measures to avoid risks to competition.CNDC press release follows in Spanish.
