NovaFarma drug bid-rigging cartel probe suspended amid settlement

( September 23, 2016, 12:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A drug bid-rigging cartel investigation into NovaFarma, a pharmaceutical company, was suspended because the company settled the probe with Brazilian antitrust officials on Sep. 14, according to a statement published today in Brazil’s Official Journal. NovaFarma agreed to pay 7.78 million reais ($2.42 million). The Administrative Council for Economic Defense is investigating whether pharmaceutical companies colluded to allocate the market for supplying medicine in several Brazilian states, including Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Bahia and Pernambuco. Companies, including Cristália Produtos Químicos Farmacêuticos, Laboratório Teuto Brasileiro and Torrent do Brasil are under scrutiny by CADE officials.OJ statement follows in Portuguese....
