Novant, CHS say US FTC has 'not met its burden' to secure preliminary injunction against deal

( June 3, 2024, 23:02 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Hospital operators Novant Health and Community Health Services stated in a redacted post-trial court filing that Novant's proposed takeover of Lake Norman Regional Medical Center would improve price and quality competition among healthcare providers in the Charlotte, North Carolina, metro region. "A revitalized Lake Norman will spur other hospitals to compete more vigorously for patients, will give insurers a more credible alternative to secure rate discounts from Atrium, will give patients a higher-quality option close to home, and will bring Lake Norman’s patients into Novant’s existing contractual arrangements designed (and proven) to lower the total cost of care," the dealmakers wrote in their proposed findings of fact and conclusions of law. See attached document....
